I have always had a passion for helping others. I started my career as a primary school teacher in a school in Derbyshire but my interest remained with families that needed more than educational support. After seeing the benefits of counselling myself, I decided to follow my dream and re-trained as a counsellor/psychotherapist.

How I work
I use an integrative approach so that I can tailor the support to suit your needs and where you are currently on your journey of change.
My main training has been using Psychodynamic and Person-Centred approaches. This means that I place a great deal of importance on building a trusting relationship, helping you to feel safe and secure enough to explore your difficulties but I am also skilled in making links to your past. Often current relationships and behaviours are a repeat of those from the past and are deep rooted in childhood experiences. Exploring these links can be useful in helping you to develop new, healthier ways of thinking and being.
I am also a Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, Coach and Time Line Therapist. Using the NLP tools and strategies, I can help you to shift limiting beliefs and negative emotions from the past in order for you to focus on the future and build the life you want and deserve.
My mission is to bring hope and wellness to all of my clients and ensure that each person who spends time in my sessions leaves a step closer to making the changes needed to improve their life.
I currently work with adults over the age of 18 in my private practice.

Counsellor in Training
I am a Trainee Counsellor and Psychotherapist currently studying an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have always had a passion for helping others and started my career within the education sector. After several years working in schools I decided to re-train as a Counsellor. It is a career which I had dreamed of for a long time, as my ambition was to have a job where I was able to support individuals in times of need and since starting I have never looked back. The course which I am studying enables me to integrate three different psychotherapeutic approaches so as to support each client and their own individual needs.
I am a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework. I also have regular supervision and meet regularly with Claire Reeves. I have a DBS certificate and am fully insured.
If you have any questions about my work or would like to book a session, please contact Claire Reeves using the contact information provided.
Emma currently has availability on a Monday morning at 8:30am. Her sessions are £35.
