Counselling and Psychotherapy
Benefits of Counselling and Psychotherapy * It can be beneficial to speak to someone who is not related to you or your problems and who will not share their opinions or try to give you advice. * It is confidential. * Talking about the past can help you to make sense of it and move past it. *You will gain a greater understanding of your thinking and beliefs; identify where they originate from and learn how to replace the negative with healthier ones. * Your emotional and physical well-being will improve as you learn how to take care of your needs. How does it work? You will meet with your counsellor weekly (or fortnightly if appropriate), at my private practice. This time is yours to explore how you feel about your current difficulties. Speaking about your feelings and emotions can help you to make sense of them. The old saying, 'a problem shared, is a problem halved' really is true. They will not tell you what they think you should do but will help you to realise that you already have everything you need to find the answers. The counsellors are trained in a range of different counselling modalities such as Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Attachment. Their sessions will be tailored to what you need - at times they may do more listening, at other times they may teach you strategies to manage your emotions, they may also gently challenge your view points and beliefs to help you to see things differently and at times they may set you some things to try at home. £35 for a 60 minute session with a Counsellor in Training
You are still able to access support if: *You do not travel due to a disability or illness * You prefer to receive support in the comfort of your own home * You struggle to fit in a face to face appointment due to work or family commitments * You wish to protect your anonymity
How does it work? Telephone counselling works in a very similar way to face to face counselling. I use the same skills, knowledge and strategies to help you to find the root of your problems and discover ways for you to process and overcome them. Some clients find speaking over the phone easier as it allows them to be more open and honest about their feelings. We would agree a day and time where I would call you.
Walk and Talk Therapy
Benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy * Some clients find it easier to talk when direct eye contact is avoided. * Walking in nature can help remove some of the intensity of the session due to the surrounding distractions. * Walking and exercise help to release endorphins into the body and naturally help lift the mood.
How does it work? Walk and Talk Therapy is just as it sounds. Instead of having our session at my private practice, we will have it outside whilst walking in the countryside. We will meet at my office for an initial consultation, to discuss your therapy needs and to make arrangements for when and where we shall meet. We will walk at a pace that is suitable for you whether that is a slower-paced meander or power walk!
