Counselling and Psychotherapy
I offer face to face counselling sessions as well as Telephone Counselling and Walk and Talk Therapy. For more information about these sessions and the price of each, please see below.
Benefits of Counselling and Psychotherapy
It can be beneficial to speak to someone who is not related to you or your problems and who will not share their opinions or try to give you advice.
It is confidential.
Talking about the past can help you to make sense of it and move past it.
You will gain a greater understanding of your thinking and beliefs; identify where they originate from and learn how to replace the negative with healthier ones.
Your emotional and physical well-being will improve as you learn how to take care of your needs.
How does it work? We will meet weekly (or fortnightly if appropriate), at my private practice. This time is yours to explore how you feel about your current difficulties. It may be that you just need space to get things off your chest. I will use active listening skills to create an environment where you feel safe to speak openly without the fear of being judged. Speaking about your feelings and emotions can help you to make sense of them. I will not tell you what I think you should do but I will explore different scenarios with you to help you to find your own solutions and answers. The old saying, 'a problem shared, is a problem halved' really is true.
£50 for a 60 minute session £265 for a block of 6 individual counselling sessions (saving of £35) £35 for a 60 minute session with a Counsellor in Training
Benefits of Telephone Counselling You have access to support if:
you do not travel due to a disability or illness
you prefer to receive support in the comfort of your own home
you struggle to fit in a face to face appointment due to work or family commitments
you wish to protect your anonymity
How does it work? Telephone counselling works in a very similar way to face to face counselling. I use the same skills, knowledge and strategies to help you to find the root of your problems and discover ways for you to process and overcome them. Some clients find speaking over the phone easier as it allows them to be more open and honest about their feelings, as they have not got the therapist opposite them. As a therapist, I wouldn't be able to use your body language as an additional cue for what you may be feeling so I would pay much more attention to the tone of your voice and the meaning behind your words. We would agree a day and time where I would call you.

Walk and Talk Therapy
Benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy
Some clients find it easier to talk when direct eye contact is avoided.
Walking in nature can help remove some of the intensity of the session due to the surrounding distractions.
Walking and exercise help to release endorphins into the body and naturally help lift the mood.
How does it work? Walk and Talk Therapy is just as it sounds. Instead of having our session at my private practice, we will have it outside whilst walking in the countryside. We will meet at my counselling room for an initial consultation, to discuss your therapy needs and goals and to make arrangements for when and where we shall meet. I will have a number of locations for you to choose from that are most suitable for you and each walk will take approximately 60 minutes. We will walk at a pace that is suitable for you whether that is a slower-paced meander or power walk!
