This is an article that one of my clients wrote to raise awareness of mental health within his workplace: "DEPRESSION,ANXIETY,FEELING USELESS,ANGRY,NOT SLEEPING As 1 in 4 people are suffering with mental illness. I would like to tell you my story and how I’m managing to cope with the symptoms and my journey. I have been suffering with a mental illness for more years than I ever realised. Feeling angry, depressed, anxious, not sleeping just generally very angry with the world. Always feeling ill and on a proper downer no matter how many people told me to pull myself together(man up 😡) or anything else to bring me out of this state of mind. At this point I thought enough is enough and sought help from a private counsellor which has really helped me and changed my life. But since talking to Claire (counsellor) my life has changed for the better. I have learnt how to deal with my emotions and worries. I’m open I will tell anybody and everyone what I’m going through and been through. THERE IS NO SHAME. I now meditate, I use headspace an app on my phone, it costs after the free trial but really helps to calm me down and deal with daily life. I’m also exercising just walking to start and now I’m up to doing park runs most weekends and eating healthy too. Which all makes a difference to your state of mind. And on the plus side I have lost almost 3 stone in weight which is just a bonus from getting my head together and in a better place. I’ve grown in confidence. Home life is better, work life is better. The more you talk about it the better it gets. A mental illness will effect every aspect of your life whether it be home or work. P/S there is help out there you have to be willing to open up and take it.... YOU'RE NOT ALONE Talk to someone Sharing a problem is often the first step to recovery...."
