The phone call is to find out a little bit about you and what you would like to achieve. It is a chance for me to explain how I work and talk to you about what you can expect from the coaching sessions. This is an opportunity for us to see if we think we would be a good fit. Our relationship will be incredibly important and contribute towards the effectiveness of the process. I will ask you questions to find out where you are now in terms of achieving your goal; what you have already tried and help you to explore what your current support options are.
NLP stands for 'Neuro-Linguistic Programming'. NLP is a collection of practical techniques, skills and strategies that lead to improved performance and communication. The techniques show you how your mind works and how your behaviour can be improved to achieve your desired results. It is also the study of excellence and how to replicate it.
A lot of NLP strategies involve visualisation and work by altering how your brain has processed information, emotions and events and them stored it in your unconscious mind. This is important as real behaviour change takes place on an unconscious level. While the main neurological changes will have occurred during the session, they may take time to settle in. It is normal for the changes to progress over time, as you get back into your daily routine.
At the end of the session we will arrange to meet again to revisit your goals; discuss your progress and do further work if needed.

The sessions focus more on the future. You will not need to talk to me about your past or your childhood, although sometimes this is helpful.
You do not need to talk to me about the problem in detail, you just need to be able to create a picture of it in your mind.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is often regarded as “a tool-kit for the mind” and is used to improve all areas of a person’s life. It is known to be particularly effective for improving anxiety and stress; health and well-being; fears and phobias; relationships; confidence; business.
The results of coaching tend to be very quick. This is because the process is participative and people tend to learn and adopt new habits more easily when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
It takes place over an extended period of time to allow you time to implement the changes discussed and is it not something that you need to commit to attending weekly.
The sessions will be helpful if you have specific goals, such as, losing weight, starting your own business or they can be helpful if you simply feel stuck. They will help you to find direction and set appropriate goals to help you to find your way again. The techniques can help with specific anxiety provoking situations, such as delivering presentations and communicating with difficult colleagues.
They can also help you to get rid of unhelpful patterns of behaviour that lead to unnecessary stress, such as, pressing the snooze button repeatedly and then being late for work!
