TIME LINE THERAPY
Being one of my absolute favourite things to do with my clients, Time Line Therapy (TLT) is a powerful process for personal change and growth.
TLT is a standalone intervention based on hypnosis and NLP. It was developed by Tad James in the 1980s to help clients truly get to the unconscious root of their problems. It helps clients clear the ‘negative’ emotions of anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt from the past, as well as clearing limiting beliefs, also known as limiting decisions, such as ‘I don’t deserve love’ or ‘I am not good enough’. It helps to clear out of mind of anything unhelpful from the past so that we can create the future that is right for us.
IT IS LIKE HAVING A DETOX FOR THE MIND!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
It works by allowing your unconscious mind to float back to the past to root of the emotion or belief. It doesn’t erase memories from the past, it just releases any trapped, unhelpful emotions attached to them. It is a process of reframing the events, taking the learnings from them and using them as resources to move forwards with, in the future.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM A TRADITIONAL TALKING THERAPY?

It is dealing with the unconscious root of the problem
Traditional talking therapies are often only dealing with the conscious mind – the bits we are aware of. All behaviour, learning and change happens on an unconscious level. Our unconscious mind is responsible for 95% of what we think, the decisions we make and how we behave. TLT helps you to get to the deepest root of the problem, not just the surface level, to help you to make long-lasting changes.
It is a process of active imagination
meaning you will not need to talk to me at length about the past. It involves you closing your eyes (although this isn’t necessary) and allowing your unconscious mind to go back to the past to access the root of the emotions or the beliefs. The root of the problem may before you were able to consciously remember, it may have even been before you were born so this problem allows your conscious mind to step aside and get to the root.
It can help you to heal from trauma safely
You will be working with the root of the emotion, the first event, which is usually something very insignificant, such as the first time your sibling took your favourite toy. By working with the first event and releasing the emotion here, by the time you work along your time line and reach a more significant event, the majority of the emotion will already have disappeared.
It involves dissociation
This means that you will be observing the events from the past as if you are a separate person. You will be in positions where you can work with the memory and emotions but you are not immersed back in where you could be retraumatised.
It is a standalone session that takes between 3-4 hours
You won't need to commit to weeks or months of therapy to feel a huge shift and begin to make changes.

WHAT CAN IT HELP WITH?
Time Line Therapy™ is most effective with anxiety and stress-based conditions such as exam nerves, performance anxiety, panic, phobia, trauma and PTSD, as well as depression. It can also help to increase your self esteem and trust in yourself.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE SESSION?
This is a standalone session which takes between 3-4 hours. I will spend time at the beginning explaining the process and making sure you are comfortable. You will not need to tell me anything about the events that come to mind so you won't need to go over things from the past and do lots of talking.
I will ring you the following week for a 30 minute check in to see how you've been and discuss the next steps for you.
